Ferndale RFC delivered one of the performances of their season on Saturday, running riot at Hendreforgan Park to put 52 points past a Gilfach Goch side that simply had no answer for the Scarlet Bulldogs on the day. In a commanding away display from first whistle to last, Ferndale crossed the whitewash nine times to claim a comprehensive victory and send a statement to the rest of Division 3 East Central.
The Bulldogs got out of the blocks quickly and never looked back. The forward pack dominated from the set piece, giving the backs the platform they needed to express themselves, and the backline responded with clinical finishing every time the opportunity presented itself. It was a complete team performance that will live long in the memory.
Luke Harris was exceptional in the centres, claiming two tries and causing chaos every time he got the ball in hand. Zen Bevan complemented him brilliantly alongside him, adding a try of his own and stretching the Gilfach defence to breaking point. On the wing, Jack Roberts grabbed another to take his season tally to five — a remarkable return for a player of such versatility.
Up front, the forwards made their mark on the scoreboard too. Captain Sam Hodder led from the front all afternoon, putting in a tireless shift at openside that set the tone for the entire pack. Alongside him, Jordan Morgan was equally impressive — carrying hard, competing at the breakdown and giving Gilfach's attack no rest throughout. Steve Daniels powered over from close range to get off the mark for the season, while Jacob Davies also crossed to cap a strong performance on his return to the starting XV at 14. And Man of the Match Rob Davies — the league's standout number 8 this season — added yet another try to his remarkable tally, now sitting at eight for the campaign.
Nathan John continued his excellent form at fly-half, directing play with real authority and adding a try himself, while Evan Wheeler — reliable as ever at fullback — finished the job with the boot, converting to put the seal on a stunning away day for the travelling Ferndale support.
Gilfach's consolation try gave the scoreline a slightly more respectful look, but make no mistake — this was Ferndale's day from start to finish. A great team performance and five points in the bag as the Scarlet Bulldogs push on in the promotion hunt. The squad, the management, and every supporter who made the trip can be proud.
Nine tries, a +47 points difference and Rob Davies winning Man of the Match. The Scarlet Bulldogs delivered one of the performances of the season at Hendreforgan Park.
